mounties to return to court in august

Two Kamloops Mounties will return to court next month to answer to separate assault charges.

RCMP Const. Ryan Sheremetta and Const. Kevin Roy were slated to make their respective first appearances in Kamloops provincial court on Thursday, July 29.

The matter, however, was adjourned to Aug. 26 in order for the officers to consult with Kelowna counsel, Neville McDougall.

Sheremetta — a seven-year veteran who has since been re-assigned to administrative duties — allegedly punched a man in a street fight near outside local bar while he was off duty.

Roy — an RCMP member of nine months has since been suspended without pay — is alleged to have used excessive force during two separate arrests.
